Snowy Owl in the Snow storm

snowy with colorFriends, today we found a Snowy Owl in Crex Meadows. We haven’t seen one of these in Crex since 2005.  This shot is really an extreme crop and a big stretch for my telephoto lens, but we were thrilled to see this owl even at a distance. This was a remeinder for me to get back to work after a short hiatus at Thanksgiving. til Tomorrow MJ

Eagle

eagle matureFriends, this mature bald eagle is enjoying the day perched in a birch tree.  There were four eagles in this spot, guarding a road kill that was ripe for scavenging.  The snow is getting much deeper today and we have had about 12 inches in this storm so far, hope it stops soon.  Til Tomorrow MJ

Top of the Falls

top of fallsFriends, not sure that i liked this image, but i will post it to see if anyone likes it.  This is the top of Big Manitou Falls in Pattison State Park in northern Wisconsin.  It is an HDR image so the water is rendered very blurry, but the rocks and background trees are sharp. I like the control that an HDR image gives me, so enjoy. til Tomorrow MJ

Over the River….

over the riverFriends, on this Thanksgiving eve i am thinking of the old song, Over the river and through the woods to Grandmas house we go.  This is not a river but Amity Creek that runs off Hawk Ridge into Lake Superior.  We traveled over the plains and thru the hills to get to my grandmas house in the badlands of North Dakota.   This time of year I remember being a child and being loved by parents and grandparents but kind of missing the Thankful part, now I am an adult and I realize how Thankful i am for the blessings of family and friends, so Happy Thanksgiving everyone, til Tomorrow MJ

My New Toy

leaf macro 20 medFriends, experimenting with some macro of fall leaves, i know they are gone, but i rescued a few before our snow.  The biggest problem i have with macro is getting all the different planes of focus in focus, so when my cam ranger arrived, i was eager to try it.  This device will allow me to focus the camera with my iPad where i can really see the details.  Also it will step focus thru several planes and capture the depth of field at my lens’ optimum aperture,  then I can run software focus stacking program.  This is my first result. do you like? til Tomorrow MJ
