Swans in the Air
Friends, I will never get over the elegance of swans in flight. They look so formal against the sky,and this week they are returning to the Meadows where there is open water. Most of the open water available is on moving streams and rivers. So glad to see them return and to hear their welcoming hoarse honking, like a goose with a cold. til Tomorrow MJ
Cranes in Spring
Friends, yes the cranes will return to Crex Meadows soon in all their spring finery, this image was taken last year about this time of year, but last year we had no snow at this time, now we have feet of snow on the ground and more coming today, ugh!!, but the color in this image helped to brighten my day, hope you like, til Tomorrow MJ
Pretty in Pink
Friends, this pretty pink is one of thousands of azaleas in the Como Conservatory exhibit, a literal wall of pink is displayed as a warm up for spring, My mother enjoyed the children almost as much as the flowers. She raised five of her own and is still very attracted to baby faces. So this pretty in pink is dedicated to her and her motherly love. til Tomorrow MJ
Icy Textures
Friends, this icy scene is a black and white of a previous image that i showed you in color, I am practicing black and white conversions of colored images, however, in the winter most of the images that are taken are probably more accurately rendered in black and white. Not much color in nature in the winter here. Frustrates me no end. I will have to settle for icy textures this morning, til Tomorrow MJ
Icy Lake Superior
Friends, this image of Icy Lake Superior was taken where the surfers, a few days ago were enjoying open water, now it is frozen and slivers of ice cover the bay. Part of this image is my new header and it will remain at the head of my posts until I see the green of spring, a little rebellion from the photographer who is pretty sick of winter, til Tomorrow MJ
The Hunting Eye
Friends, another wolf face from the International Wolf Center in Ely Minnesota. This is a male, but not sure if it is Boltz a ten month old puppy, or Aidan, the five year old. They appear to have very similar markings, at least on the face. Regardless of which wolf it is, the eyes are tuned into a hunting mode, and like Luna, he was chasing the ravens away from the tidbits of food left over from the Saturday night feast. til Tomorrow MJ
Luna the Wolf
Friends, this is Luna, the black wolf from wolf center in Ely. I took lots of images of her, but not sure why my camera was so attracted to her. Is it because she is female, because she is black, because she was most active chasing the ravens, or is it the faraway look in her eyes. She is young (10 months) and still ambitious, I am old and not so ambitious anymore. I envy her energy chasing illusions of wildness, even tho they fly when she approaches. Not unlike the humans watching her. til Tomorrow MJ
Weekly Photo Challenge:Lost in the Details
Friends, at first glance, i did not like this image, cause the background competed with the foreground. yes the tiny orchid was lost in the details. Well using a little photoshop to dull the background details helped and I thought it would fit the weekly Challenge, lost in the Details (almost). Sorry that the subject was in the middle of the image and the hot spot in the upper right hand corner is taboo, but I tried, this is an example of an image that is not up to my standards, til Tomorrow MJ
Luna Chasing the Ravens
Friends, Luna is a black timber wolf found in Ely in a wolf enclosure at the International Wolf Center. Saturday night is dinner for the four wolves in this enclosure and we were present at their Thanksgiving dinner, deer with a side of beaver. Sunday morning while the boys were sleeping off their dinner, Luna, the single female, was busy tidying up and chewing on tidbits left behind. The ravens also showed up to help her, but she told them to buzz off, the tidbits were hers. til Tomorrow MJ
Raven
Friends, a little late this morning, sorry, we visited the wolf enclosure over the weekend and they fed the wolves on Sat evening, so Sunday morning the ravens arrive to clean up the scraps, hard to shoot black birds against the white snow, but i gave it a crack, here is my best bird, til Tomorrow MJ
