Crex Meadows Portrait
Friends, I am not a very good landscape photographer so i am venturing into a new world for me, this is a portrait of Crex Meadows on a beautiful summer day, but maybe it is more about the sky and reflections, I get confused when trying to do landscapes as to what the subject of the photo really is, what do you think the subject of this image is? Maybe just being outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. til Tomorrow MJ
Fall Bouquet
Friends, yesterday the backlight pointed out these primrose blooms. I worked for about 30 minutes at all the angles without getting wet. The fog had left all the foliage very damp. At f11 the depth of field was adequate and the bokeh was ok. When i came back in the late afternoon, the blooms were wilted beyond recognition. So go early. til Tomorrow MJ
Watercolor Woods
Friends, yesterday in Crex was a little disappointing cause all the flowers are drying and looking rather bedraggled. So I experimented with dragging the camera with a slow shutter speed. Then in post processing, used a watercolor filter in photoshop to add some interest. Did I succeed, do you like?? til Tomorrow MJ
Abstracts
Friends, Ed Kneply of Photography Improvement Blog has issued a challenge to do six abstracts, three outdoors and three indoors, one each of macro, wide angle and telephoto viewpoints. Objects should not be recognizable and line, shapes, and textures to be the main emphasis. How did I do on these abstracts of outdoor only? The pink is a macro, the green ring is a wide-angle and the ore dock is a telephoto. til Tomorrow MJ
Yesterday in Two Harbors
Friends, yesterday I saw this barge/ tugboat combo aligned with the ore dock in Two Harbors Minnesota. This combination, an ATB or articulated tug barge, was recently built (2012) and is 875 feet long. Her name is Lakes Contender/Ken Boothe Sr. Could not resist trying a panorama of this scene, I love all the little details from this 3 photo pan. This small port loads iron ore and other commodities and is north of Duluth on Lake Superior. til Tomorrow MJ
Annoyed or Angry
Friends, this mature Cooper Hawk was captured and banded last fall at Hawk Ridge in Duluth Minnesota. He looks angry but his hackles are raised cause he is a little annoyed with being restrained while the educators talk about his natural history. Someone will have a chance to adopt him and release him back into the wild. I think this is my favorite photo from last fall at Hawk Ridge. Do you like? til Tomorrow MJ
