Winter Birdie
Friends, the appearance of this tiny bird means that winter has arrived, three inches of snow on the ground this morning and more on the way, a steady stream of snowflakes to cover all our pine trees in the yard, makes a beautiful sight, but wet conditions for birding. This birdie is a Redpoll and gets his name from his jaunty cap of red. His food is hanging all around him and he was very busy chomping on these catkins. I will try to get outside today but it is a struggle to keep the camera dry. Oh well work on my book today. til Tomorrow MJ

We have four pet Redpolls!! Where I live they are very common in the bush around my life style block, they are very cheeky little birds with a big personality! Lol there are a really cool bird! It’s quite entertaining watching them, I spend ages watching them outside 🙂 thanks for sharing!
pet redpolls??:)
Haha yea they make great pets! Where I live they are very common so they are quite easy to catch when you have a caller! I see them around me house everyday, sometimes I see about a dozen a day! I have a post on my blog about them if you would like to check them out? 🙂 http://reneesrandomblog.wordpress.com/2012/11/09/my-redpoles/
what a cute little fella. another bird new to me. thanks for posting it 🙂
I’ve never seen this guy. Perhaps he doesn’t come this far south. Our snowbirds are the juncos. When we see them we know that snow isn’t far behind…or at least cold weather.
