Summer Wood Duck
Friends, this is two views of the same male wood duck molting into eclipse plumage. I included two images to show why i am a big proponent of continuous shooting mode. The top image shows the bird at a rest position, and the second while he is paddling and peeking. Sometimes when ducks are paddling, their backs look extended and elongated, while the top image shows a quiet duck. Which one do you like best?? til Tomorrow MJ

I like the first better, on the second the lily pads almost align with the top of the head.
I think I like the first, though I am not too sure why.
I think wood ducks are so interesting. I agree . . . I like the top one best. I find the grass on the bottom a little distracting.
Both are good, but I often prefer close-up shots because I can see more detail.
MJ……..top one…j
sorry visible on his back –
I understand the grass distraction but I like the color that becomes more visable on his back in the second one.
I think I like the top one better and maybe because I find the grass distracting on the bottom one. Then again that duck is so beautiful, I really love them both. Your work is amazing.
